Fast
The conventions used in this discussion are
Data Provider is the source of the data, in effect the owner of the data
Data Consumer is the use of the data
Data Application is the process that uses the data
Redundant Data is data provided that has no purpose
Think of a National Weather Report. The group that collects and compiles the weather reports is the Data Provider. In this example they have a web site that allows the user to log on and get the weather report. The user is the Data Consumer and the web site itself is the Data Application that is being used to deliver the weather data.
Imagine you are on a boat and the captain needs to get the weather forecast as he thinks a storm is building.
The boat is equipped with a Data Application perhaps a simple web site that allows the captain to filter down to get specific weather forecasts for boating. It takes the captain a few moments and eventually gets the report needed that is specific to the location, the captain then adjusts the course of the ship to avoid the storm.
It would be faster If the captain had a Data Application that sent the boats specific Geographic location to the Data Provider and received a response that advised on weather patterns in the immediate vicinity.
The Data Application that the captain purchased benefits the Data Provider and the Data Consumer in that they have not had to provide and consume Redundant Data (no need seeing the weather on the other side of the country) it also means that the information the captain needs is faster to arrive.
Using the Authenticated Data process the Captain gets data faster.
